Something nice from out in the garden: Blue globe gillia (Gilia capitata), an Oregon native. The 'globe' is made of small, 5-petaled flowers that radiate from the top of the stem.

This plant grows all over western Oregon, from the Cascades to the coast. It's a favorite of local hummingbirds.
