Überlege gerade, ob ich mir ein #Framework12 zulege .. so ein kleines convertible käme mir eigentlich gelegen für meine use cases und eine gute Alternative habe ich irgendwie nicht gefunden ..
jetzt bin ich bei der Recherche darauf gestossen, dass Framework Faschos bzw. Rassisten supporten .. bin noch nicht tiefer in die Materie eingestiegen .. sollte man lieber Abstand von @frameworkcomputer nehmen?!

Framework 12 Review

Why? I didn’t think I would buy a Frame.work laptop after the controversy about one of the Framework dude being dumb and sponsoring DHH, who I didn’t know who he was but after I looked him up is a garbage person. However, tablets are even worse. Expensive: iPad Air $18,921 NT, Galaxy Tab $22,080 NT They aren’t expensive in dollars, but they are expensive for how limited they are. You can’t play Steam games on them.

i am 90% happy with my kid's frame.work 12. the fit and finish isn't up to snuff compared to other commercial laptops. blog post will happen...eventually.

Still playing with the Framework 12, now the system is a triple boot, as I installed FydeOS in addition of #popos and #haikuos .

There, tablet mode is working quite well:
* with a virtual keyboard respecting the selected layout in the OS,
* the physical keyboard and touchpad being disabled in tablet mode.

Unfortunately, there is no screen rotation despite the option being active in the settings.

As much as I don’t like chrome, I must admit the system is really nice to use.

Still playing with the Framework 12 laptops.

So yesterday evening, I installed Haiku. Strangely enough I had to install using the beta5 iso, as installing with the 3 latest nightly isos just failed 🤔
However, after the successful installation, upgrading to the latest nightly just worked fine 🤷‍♀️

The system is installed in UEFI mode in dual boot with Pop OS and using rEFInd as a boot manager.

Now some observation about Haiku on the Framework 12:
* While in the live environment during installation the trackpad works, once Haiku is installed and booted, it does not work 😪
* The WiFi is working contrary to the installation on my Thinkpad T450 😀

I'm now about 2 weeks into using my new #Framework12 from @frameworkcomputer running #Linux (which I previously only toyed with way back in the #RedHat days), and every second I'm using this machine I'm enjoying more and more. What an absolute delight.

I've set it up for a long-term project in modest on-the-go security-focused data analysis, which is a purely utilitarian endeavor, but it's also just such a very fun laptop to use. And the benefits of the #framework platform is a huge bonus. 😀

If you are running #opensuse on a #framework12 and wonder why the kernel is tainted....
Remove the framework-laptop-kmp-default package. Doesn't make sense on the 12.
