#nix is now packaged for #Fedora! This also means it works again on #Silverblue following the system changes introduced in Silverblue 42(?) — great news . Tested it, and my nix-based development environments appear to function correctly. However, legacy nix is not supported.

It seems like my Fedora Silverblue came with no video player or music player installed by default? And no question while setting it up about which players I want to install either?

Is this how it's meant to be? If so, I guess I have my answer to my previous question of whether Silverblue is meant for more technical users. Unless the thinking is that normal people only watch videos and play music in the browser and with streaming apps?

Is Fedora Silverblue meant for power users?

Because so far I've had to do some very unintuitive things with Flatseal to get two different apps to work. And Flatseal was not installed by default, I think, and there was no hint that I needed to use a different app to change settings, or what I should do.

I did not have this issue with Gnome OS, which is almost 100% Flatpak based.

Arch, mein alter Freund: Ich hab dich vermisst. Die Freiheit, Pacman, dieser schöne Minimalismus... das ist einfach Home. Keine unnötigen Schnörkel, nur das, was ich brauche. Und wenn was schiefgeht, bin ich selbst schuld – und irgendwie mag ich das.

I had a lot of freezes, reboots and kernel panics the last days. Really annoyed I started searching and found https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=2420039

First try was rolling back my #silverblue #universalblue image to a version from October last year. There the issue was not occuring kernel 6.17.

So I added another workaround to my image and downgrade amdgpu firmware, as described in the bugzilla. I'm running kernel 6.18.7 with downgraded firmware about 2 days now and no freeze or kernel panic happened.
