Pur me down as one more "upgraded a buncha Fedora machines to 42 and only good things happened" #Fedora #silverblue
I’m 5 days into my “30 Day Fedora Silverblue Challenge”, and I think this is going to be the most anticlimactic challenge ever.

I really just should call it “Using my computer to play games and chat online for 30 days”.

AAARRRGH!
I installed #Fedora42 #Silverblue but the Fedora quick setup crashed
And now nothing works: theres no poweroff botton, theres no terminal only tty but it I dont have the login info. Aparently it doesnt recognize my keyboard because non of the shortcuts work...

Im stuck logged in and cant reboot, cant poweroff, cant do anything!!!
What the damn hell!!

Hmm, #Ubuntu on my #Thinkpad shit the bed... No idea what happened, it still works in general (UI + keyboard), but no networking and USB?

I guess this is the sign to try atomic distros. I'll start with #fedora #silverblue.

Brb writing a USB stick.

Solution: I was running #reaper as a portable install in a #toolbox from #Fedora 41 #Silverblue, so I recreated the toolbox using #Fedora42 image.
I'm distraught. My mother, the Queen, has tossed me out of the kingdom of Haven via a magic portal, forcing a mission on me in order to show my value as a member of the royal family.

I am Mattias, a prince of the realm, 3rd in line for the throne. Woe unto me, that I should have to actually earn my place in the world. I have been tasked with recapturing and rebuilding a fallen vassal state, or three of them I guess. At least they tossed my butler through the portal before me.

I had to assist with the slaying of 2 brigands, when not yet on this continent for 5 minutes. Here I am, standing before a pool of gore. I think it's on my shoes :(

I bought Spiderweb Software's Queens Wish: The Conqueror to play on my relatively low-powered laptop. I do love Jeff Vogel's old school, turn-based, RPGs, but the last one I bought was a few years back. It's not Linux native, but runs great via Steam, and appears to have a fun story so far.

So, I've been really digging into whats available by flatpak to see what apps I like, while on my 30 day headfirst dive into Fedora Silverblue. I'm trying to avoid any rpm-ostree layering and just use what is available via flatpak, homebrew, or even toolbx.

It really never occurred to me to use anything but a web browser to access my GoToSocial instance on my computer, but whoa... there's an app for that?

Tuba is super clean looking, as it's a GTK app. It appears to work very well. I'm not 100% sure that I like it better than something like Phanpy or Elk on Firefox for accessing the fediverse through my GTS instance, but I think I do. It's just that nice.

According to the website, this is a fork of an older app called Tootle that I wasn't ever aware of.
