HiggsAs the family IT support staff sorting out sister's laptop (a 7th gen i5 macbook pro booting into windows as she prefers windows , or at least is used to it). Getting the warning regarding the unability to update to windows 11 which seems really odd given how snappy it runs windows 10. Really hate #ForcedObsolescence for a product that still has some life left in it

ikeacurtainsI have a NUC7i3 from Intel. It has a Core i3-7100U CPU, 2-cores, 4-threads, TPM2.0, plenty of ram. Everything Windows 11 needs to run, but it can't run Windows 11 because Microsoft arbitrarily chose Intel Gen 8 as the minimum cutoff for Windows 11, so a perfectly capable machine is essentially useless after October 2025 when the windows updates stop coming. Which is fine, I'll just delete Windows and expand my Linux installation. #ForcedObsolescence #PlannedObsolescence
