The Silent Disappearance of Octopus ⚠️

Octopuses, like any other edible species in our #ocean, are facing immense pressure from overfishing. The numbers are alarming:

🇮🇹 In Italy, nearly 3,000 tons of octopuses are caught each year,
🇬🇷 In Greece, an average of 2,000 tons,
🇪🇸 In Spain, over 1,600 tons.

These figures represent the deaths of hundreds of thousands of octopuses annually – and they exclude both recreational and illegal catches: the actual impact is far greater.

We're back in the #MediterraneanSea, removing every illegal #octopus trap we find. Join us in protecting this highly intelligent and sensitive species:

🛑 Help stop the demand - Do NOT consume octopus
🤝 Support our mission - Enable us to continue this vital work:

Together, we can stand against destructive practices and fight for the future of the Mediterranean Sea. #ForTheOcean

Operation Cinque Terre is back!✊

We've returned to Cinque Terre, Italy, where we're patrolling a Marine Protected Area.

Marine Protected Areas (MPAs) are essential to the survival of our ocean. They’re not just lines on a map, they are sanctuaries where marine life has a fighting chance to recover and thrive. 🌊

However, creating MPAs alone is not enough. They must be actively defended, strengthened, and expanded. With your support, we can protect these vital ecosystems where life begins and flourishes.

Every action, and every contribution you make, empowers us to continue our mission. You make it possible for us to be the guardians of the sea. 🙏 Together, we can protect Marine Areas and guarantee a future for life on Earth.

#ForTheOcean.

✅ Working Out to protect the Ocean

Aboard the #AgeofUnion, the crew is patrolling some of the world’s most exploited waters: tracking illegal fishing, protecting endangered species, and defending vulnerable ecosystems.

And now, between watches and missions, they're joining the last week of the #FitForTheOcean Challenge.🏃‍♀️

Their motto? "If we can do it on a moving ship… you can move #fortheocean wherever you are." 💬

Each year, 8 to 10 million metric tons of plastic enter our ocean.

👉 Up to 500,000 tonnes of that are microplastics coming from textiles, tiny fibres that pollute the water, harm marine life, and threaten entire ocean ecosystems.

That’s why, while we’re on the frontlines tackling one of the ocean’s biggest threats, illegal fishing, we’re also here to share everyday steps you can take #ForTheOcean, like choosing natural, organic materials when you shop for clothes.

From our plates to our closets, every choice matters. Join the movement to protect the ocean.

What’s one small change you’ve made for the ocean? Tell us below 👇🌊

The #SeaEagle is back, patrolling its waters and cleaning up what the (illegal) #fishing industry leaves behind, but we can't save the Med alone.

Help us turn the tide.

Here's what you can do:
- Go plastic-free
- Choose natural materials when buying new clothes
- Eat plant-based
- Wear the Change
- And Support our Campaigns

It's not too late. But we must act now!

The #Mediterranean: Not just the most overfished sea in the world, but also one of the most threatened.🚨

From plastic pollution in its deepest trenches, illegal fishing practices being the norm, to 730 tonnes of plastic entering its water daily, and soaring levels of toxic microplastics.

The Mediterranean is in crisis, and it needs its protection urgently.
