The Silent Disappearance of Octopus โ ๏ธ
Octopuses, like any other edible species in our #ocean, are facing immense pressure from overfishing. The numbers are alarming:
๐ฎ๐น In Italy, nearly 3,000 tons of octopuses are caught each year,
๐ฌ๐ท In Greece, an average of 2,000 tons,
๐ช๐ธ In Spain, over 1,600 tons.
These figures represent the deaths of hundreds of thousands of octopuses annually โ and they exclude both recreational and illegal catches: the actual impact is far greater.
We're back in the #MediterraneanSea, removing every illegal #octopus trap we find. Join us in protecting this highly intelligent and sensitive species:
๐ Help stop the demand - Do NOT consume octopus
๐ค Support our mission - Enable us to continue this vital work:
Together, we can stand against destructive practices and fight for the future of the Mediterranean Sea. #ForTheOcean
