and I'm building a compiler for my new language. have to get into this editor ASAP. has a bunch of method locating bugs to fix then should be pretty good for presenting tours through the system. there's a cursor going through sets of points which focus on parts of the document, hopefully presenting a very folded screenfull of stuff almost all the time.

Recently I have heard more people claim that "#FOSS is dead": that with increasingly powerful LLMs scanning for vulnerabilities, making source code openly available presents a risk that e.g. governments cannot not afford to take.

I am grateful to the people who spend their time writing and maintaining software, and making it available to me - and others - under licences that let me use, remix, and share.

I won't always love their decisions, but unless I'm going to step up and make a difference myself, so be it. I will need to adapt my own computing accordingly.

I use XMPP for messaging. I believe it's way under looked as a viable way to message these days. It works great and does not rely on Google services or the other big data collecting companies. The messaging apps are lightweight & efficient. The protocol is open source & Federated. The messages are secure with E2E encryption. It doesn't need FCM for push notifications. I am just surprised that it is overlooked when it has so much to offer!
