Tell Rachel Reeves: don’t put plane profits before planet

Chancellor Rachel Reeves has backed airport expansion while we're in a climate emergency. Expanding airports like Heathrow, Luton and Gatwick won’t do much, if anything, for the communities that need growth the most. Instead, benefits will be enjoyed by shareholders and the wealthiest few who fly frequently. Airport expansions mean more subsidies for a heavily polluting industry - when we desperately need to be doing all we can to reduce emissions.

@Ruth_Mottram Hope you had a good trip - I'm currently in Finland, got here with train to Stockholm, 11h ferry (but with fantastic skærgård views) to Åbo, then train journeys in #Finland. When planning I had hoped to avoid planes, but I either had to reverse my whole route, or include the three baltic countries and get another ferry from Kleipeda - it became too much so ended up with plane ticket Helsinki-Copenhagen. But otherwise nice feeling getting so far away without flying. Other than environmental benefits it feels more real to travel this way, last evening I saw a 'distance to cities signpost' with Esbjerg 1880 km, that's a long way...
