All aboard the SJ #EuroNight from Berlin to Stockholm, which departed its first station 40 minutes late.
Annoying to sit on a cold Hbf platform for in total an hour, but unlikely actually to affect arrival in Stockholm.
More unfortunate was the emergency brake activation that stopped the train within a minute of it rolling out. Soon under way again, though.

Greetings from the Berlin U-bahn where (as far as I can tell) union jack boxer shorts are strongly discouraged.

All aboard the #EuropeanSleeper from Rotterdam to Berlin, which arrived on time from Brussels/Antwerp.
I'm trying their new type of berth, they call it Comfort Standard. It's basically a 5-person couchette compartment made up instead with proper mattress bunks for max 3 people. Everyone has a seat and also a bed, with no folding down/away needed.

Watching a two sundog sunset from Hoek van Holland Strand.
Sundogs are not easy to photograph, so please imagine two duplicate rainbow fringed blobs, like less bright suns; one 22° left of the setting sun, and one 22° to its right.

This ferry appears to have a naughty step.

After a Night of Flight-Free Adventure (travel inspiration as fundraiser for the charity Flight Free UK), #WalesToSweden chuffed (electrically) on to Harwich and now takes a day ferry to Hoek van Holland.
Day ferries and night trains complement each other really well. You have time to sleep, work, or window stare on at least one.
#NotFlying
The next round of #NotFlying #WalesToSweden has kicked off with its first pit stop at Bara, the cafe bringing Wales to Peckham.
(h/t @NationCymru for the tip off back when it opened.)
Here endeth my THINGS TO SAY. If you're still curious about how to cross Germany when lots of trains get disrupted, feel free to ask.
Oh, one last thing. If you suffer GWR trains on a regular basis, YES they really are well in the running for worst in Europe.
Worst seats. Worst lighting. Worst cringe-inducingly English cutglass pronunciation of Tswinnnndon and Cardiff Tsennntral in the recorded announcements.
Croeso nol! It's good to be home.

Back trekking with #Interrail from #WalesToSweden.
Did you know that from Cardiff you can reach Berlin by train in 19 hours?
That's largely thanks to the homely #EuropeanSleeper that trundles between Brussels and Berlin.
(It is currently trundling considerably faster than the cars I can see out the window.)
Delayed NatExpress coach, no faith in #Eurostar catering, then no Bordbistro on the DB train to Köln mean planet Ian risks severe hunger force 9, becoming famished later.
Thankfully, a delayed earlier train from Köln that I now can catch (Yay #Interrail!) does have a proper sit down restaurant car.
Table service of two courses and a beer for €20 is unimaginable in Britain.
Ditto this amount of veggie food choice most other places in Germany.
