I was surprised to see Syrphids (hoverflies) so late in the season. I think this is the black-tailed sapeater (Brachyopa daeckei) but not sure.

Syrphids or Hoverflies are tiny but a large class of pollinating insects. It's Syrphid season right now. This one is feeding on Beggertick (Bidens spp.)

Adults feed on nectar while the larvae eat aphids and thrips.

@plants not surprisingly, mass flowering like this is important to various local critters-- bees and #FlowerFlies of many sorts are often seen on the flowers and a #spider has found a good spot to wait for prey!
