#Flight41 of #Ingenuity scouted Rocky Top, an area north of Three Forks where #Perseverance spent a considerable amount of time during the first phase of its mission, before ascending to the Jezero delta. This video shows Hogwallow Flats and Rocky Top in two sequences, the second one being a "lock-on" view which I like much.

Back to our Martian utopia, but still in the historical realm, here is one of my favorite animations from #Ingenuity's #Flight41, on March 30, 2023.

#Ingenuity's goal for #Flight41 on Sol 689 was to scout for the rover. It did so, and here is a WWII style aerial view of a "target", as the #MarsHelicopter passes over Rocky Top, south of which #Perseverance spent a considerable amount of time for sampling and science.
The animation (best viewed full) uses a small number of recently downlinked images.

#Ingenuity scouted the place #Perseverance is at on Sol 708, back on Sol 689, during #flight41 .
Here is an animation showing that area in more detail. The hellish background near the horizon was not intentional but maybe adds some suspense? π¬

A rare view of the horizon from the ground, captured by #Ingenuity on Sol 693. The #MarsHelicopter landed on the side of a regolith ripple and is apparently tilted in a way that allows the RTE camera to view the horizon, something unattainable under normal circumstances.
Processed, cropped and rotated for straight horizon :-)

The new risk avoidance software on #Ingenuity shows a clear preference to smooth regolith ripples.

Scouting the Rocky Top seems to have gone nicely for #Ingenuity. Here's a couple of RTE images from #Flight41. It looks like an interesting place for #Perseverance to take some more rock samples.

This is an approximation of #Ingenuity's #Flight41 flight path, based on the ground profile and a flight altitude of of ~10m.
And here is #Ingenuity, sitting on a rego-ripple after its #Flight41, watching #Perseverance which was about to drop its last sample tube at the #ThreeForks depot.
