I haven't given up on FediDate, but there hasn't been any followup from anyone else out there - and I don't have the skills or resources to make it happen by myself. That's understandable, with the world basically falling apart at this point.
But I think a lot of people would be happier if they had someone to love and stand with while all this is going on. So I think FediDate's time will come.
I'm not sure if I should be replying to my original post, or do a new one; maybe I'll do both this one time, just in case. I hope that's okay.
@sashin kindly suggested that "FediDate" would be a more apt name for a Fediverse dating service, and I agree. "FediMeet" is still a good name for either A) the current practice of people in the Fediverse meeting in real life, or possibly B) a Fediverse-based app to facilitate those meetings.
For now, I'll use both hashtags as well as "dating". Please follow FediDate as well as FediMeet if you're interested!

This is something that people really seem to need and want. I think we should make it happen.
FediMeet would be a Fediverse dating service - non-profit and designed to improve human happiness. In other words the complete OPPOSITE of the commercial dating service cartel.
It's that simple. A Fediverse-based service that helps people meet suitable potential partners in their area. There's nothing out there like that, as far as I know.
This is day two of my unplanned YouTube strike, and once again I was able to get through the day without opening YouTube at all.
Partly I did that by spending more time on Mastodon; it really helps that I'm seeing a lot more activity and responses here. Thanks for that, everybody!
That actually makes me want to write more here. I suspect that I should be trying to take next steps to help make FediMeet a reality, but I don't know what to do. I did find an online resource about creating new Fediverse project, but I haven't started reading it yet. Any suggestions would be very welcome.
I wonder what I would need to learn? Coding? Stuff about servers? I have a fair amount of basic computer knowledge, and I took a basic class in Turbo Pascal in college, but that was decades ago. Still, I'm willing to try to learn. Again, I'm wide open to suggestions!
