In questo bellissimo video abbiamo un’analisi tecnica dello storico caccia F-104 uno dei miei velivoli preferiti. Aereo amplimente sotto alutato dai non addetti ai lavori ma che ha fatto egregiamente il suo porco lavoro e non solo il suo.

I was just chatting with a friend about the Vietnam War and how these pointy birds weren’t the designed and saw a lot of combat losses during the war. On takeoff, the afterburners would blowout left and right. In Europe, instead of flying high and fast like interceptors, they were flown like low-flying bomber.
The primitive avionics and fighter pilots themselves were so overburdened with information that both suffered from burnout and high turnover. Just an all around terrible plane to fly, and the only American-built fighter jet to be pulled from service over safety concerns.
I can think of no higher honour for an F-104 than being nothing more than a weathered sculpture in a public park. X3
