L’utilizzo dell’intelligenza artificiale continua a invadere tutti i settori generando approvazioni e critiche. Un dibattito acceso ha coinvolto anche l’industria cinematografica, con un confronto che ha portato a una presa di posizione dell’Academy: “Gli attori e le sceneggiature generate dall’intelligenza artificiale (Ia) non saranno ammissibili agli Oscar. Nelle categorie di recitazione, saranno considerati ammissibili solo i ruoli accreditati nei titoli di coda ufficiali del film e che si possa dimostrare essere stati interpretati da esseri umani con il loro consenso”.
Com’è noto, ogni anno il Consiglio dei Governatori dell’Academy rivede il proprio regolamento, un anno fa l’Academy aveva affermato che l’uso dell’IA non avrebbe “né favorito né nuociuto” alle possibilità di candidatura di un film sottolineando al contempo che i votanti avrebbero dovuto considerare “il grado in cui un essere umano è stato al centro del processo creativo“. Con nessun obbligo di divulgazione formale dell’uso dell’IA.
Un tema centrale e critico che ha spinto l’Academy a prendere a una posizione più netta per definire in modo chiaro il processo creativo e la paternità di un’opera in un momento storico in cui la clonazione vocale e la scrittura assistita dall’IA stanno diventando sempre più comuni nella produzione cinematografica. Nel 2025 aveva fatto discutere la creazione del personaggio di Tilly Norwood, la prima “attrice” generata dall’intelligenza artificiale. Le nuove regole entreranno in vigore con la cerimonia degli Oscar del prossimo anno, prevista per il 14 marzo 2027.

A heated debate has also involved the film industry, with a confrontation leading to a position taken by the Academy: “Actors and screenplays generated by artificial intelligence (AI) will not be eligible for the Oscars. In acting categories, only roles credited in the official film end credits and that can be proven to have been interpreted by humans with their consent will be considered eligible.”
As is known, each year the Academy’s Board of Governors reviews its regulations; last year the Academy stated that AI would “neither favor nor prejudice” a film’s chances of nomination, while also emphasizing that voters should consider “the extent to which a human being was at the center of the creative process.” With no formal disclosure obligation regarding the use of AI.
A central and critical theme that prompted the Academy to take a clearer position to clearly define the creative process and the authorship of a work in a historical moment in which vocal cloning and AI-assisted writing are becoming increasingly common in film production.
