This event will bring together key stakeholders from ETS sectors, civil society, and policy to contribute to the ongoing review of the EU ETS and the Market Stability Reserve for the 2031–2040 period. Når EU kommissionen efter pres fra den europæiske billobby åbner en ladeport for at der fortsat kan sælges biler med forbrændingsmotorer, så vil det både bremse omstillingen og skabe usikkerhed om det hjemmemarked for elbiler, som den europæiske bilindustri faktisk har rigtig godt fat i. Åbningen for de potentielt mange ekstra fossilbiler, nok især hybrider, øger usikkerheden også for investorer i ladeinfrastruktur, som kan dæmpe efterspørgslen efter rene elbiler, og så har man en selvopfyldende profeti. Samtidig skaber ændringen blod på tanden ved diverse fodslæbende industrier og en generel usikkerhed om man kan regne med EU's regulering, hvilket i et større perspektiv nok reelt er værre. Og jo, det er godt at fremme elektrificeringen af firmabiler/flåder, øge udbuddet af mindre (europæiske) elbiler og fremme efterspørgslen på grønt stål, men det er småtterier i det store billede. Og tiltag som ville være en god ide uanset. Jeg håber at kommissionen fremlægger en vurdering af hvordan dette vil påvirke mulighederne for at opfylde klimamålene for både 2030 og 2040, og hvis ikke, at vakse medlemmer af Europaparlamentet vil efterspørge det. #dktrp #eutrp #dkgreen #dkpol https://lnkd.in/enJd_DJc

In 2011 the USA strongarmed the EU to exclude extra-EU aviation from the ETS.
EU has decided already to revisit this decision in 2027.
But why wait now? My hunch is that fewer from EU want to visit US, so internal pushback is lower. And if the US pushes back: So be it.

Agree re Femern-connection, but the outlook is not too good, as the tunnel on the German side is delayed and now a (temporary) Plan B is considered: Fix up the existing old rail bridge a bit, so passenger trains can roll across. Freight may most likely have to wait until 2035. 😕
