As a Canadian in #Alberta, this video about #NewZealand and #Australia hits home in terms of different parts/provinces of #Canada with equalization, in the context of being so dependent and integrated with the US, but also with progressive personal taxation.
I am in favour of #equalization. Here I find hearing about it in terms of a remote situation where I have no preference puts it in a more stark and compelling perspective.

🎧 Music Production 101:
Understanding EQ
Equalization is the first and foremost tool in shaping sound in music production.
Equalization allows you to shape the Sound by cutting specific frequencies; boosting should only be done if everything else fails. You are sculpting the audio like a artist of an intricate Bronze Master Piece.
You can improve the attack of instruments by dropping frequencies which fight that particular audio effect.
You can make vocals sound clear by using proper High Pass filters {80 to 100Hz} and equalizing the voices so that they sound as close as possible as the voice in your ears in relationship to your PA.
You can make drums have an overall much better sound than what comes out of your microphones, which may not be the most ideal for the task, or where the Acoustics are fighting a clear Attack Decay Sustain and Release {ADSR} of your drums.
Always realize that the result of your sound is a combination of the Acoustics the Microphones, the Mixing Console, the sub mixing panels, the XLR & instrument cables, the direct boxes, the electrical interference EMI and everything else
It's not just you; there are many factors which are beyond your control!
🔍 Quick Tips:
Low frequencies (20–250Hz): this frequency interval adds warmth
Mids (250Hz–4kHz): this frequency interval is the most important for vocals, instruments, basically anything that shapes the music
Highs (4kHz–20kHz): this frequency interval l, which is quite large, adds brightness clarity and presence to the music
🎛️
Learning to EQ properly can take your mix from sounding like mud to bright clear and warm.
Make sure to use your ears as sensors don't hunt for meters and dials
