I try to listen to propaganda from both sides of the war. What they both have in common is that both sides are claiming God is on their side, and both sides like to boast of their victories and promise revenge for their injuries.

But the similarities end there.

In the propaganda from the American/Israeli side, I hear racism, arrogance, hyperbole, inconsistency, sometimes just plain word salad, lies about who started the war, sputtering about whether this is a war or not, reminders that the Ayatollah was a bad guy and that the Iranians are better off without him, as well as an appeal to bring about Armageddon. I hear claims that aren’t even wrong, just insanity.

In the Iranian propaganda, I hear apologies of attacks on US bases in sovereign territories of their neighboring states, an appeal to solidarity among all Muslim nations for diplomacy, reminders that allying with the US has not gone well in the past for other Islamic states, reminders that Israel is committing genocide, reminders that their enemies have violated international law and all other norms, and a promise to make this a war of attrition.

When I hear from retired American military analysts about the situation, I hear what isn’t said in propaganda from either side. Firstly, that the US has the worlds most expensive military, that doesn’t necessarily make it the best or most powerful. In fact, due to so much corruption in the US military industrial complex, it is impossible to even perform an audit of their budget, and there seems to be increasing more criticism about how the majority of the US military budget is just wasted on pork and experimental tech that doesn’t always work well.

These analysts also say the Iranian government, in spite of severe sanctions that have squeezed their civil population to their limit, have very wisely spent the majority of their oil profits over the past 20-30 years preparing for a US/Israeli attack. This is likely the cause of the civil unrest, because all of that money could have been spent on improving the lives of the people. But now the people of Iran just want to be safe and keep their sovereignty. The critics who said the Iranian government was wasting their money on defense have been decisively proved wrong.

The IRGC, along with Chinese and Russian help, and to me their awe-inspiring strategic prowess, has become a truly formidable opponent to the US despite being at the disadvantage in almost every way. The US leadership still seems not to understand this at all, they still seem to think they are fighting against some abstract racist caricatures of subhuman sand people.

I still have no idea what the outcome of this war will be, but clearly, victory for the US and Israel is going to be an order of magnitude more costly than even the most pessimistic projections before the war started. End it now before US and Israeli troops die needlessly, before more bombing of civilian targets in Tehran or Telaviv claim more innocent lives.

The take-away of this video is that empires don’t sustain themselves on violent force alone, they also have to have a story, a mythology, that people tell each other to justify it’s existence. Since the fall of the USSR, the USA became the only imperial super-power. Though the USA committed genocide and wars of aggression, this was always justified by the mythology of freedom, democracy, and prosperity under an American-led rules-based world order.

The mythology is essentially that America liberated Europe from fascism in World War II and ended the genocide of the Jews, and since then the rest of the world gradually abandoned communism and adopted the American model of economics and government, and that had made the world more prosperous and harmonious. Has anyone heard American citizens, when talking about European opinions of the US say something like, “well if weren’t for us, Europe wouldn’t exist now, they should be more grateful toward us!” I have heard it said many times by numerous people, that was the power of the mythology.

But now, because of the actions of #Trump (and Biden too, who gleefully led the #genocide of #Gaza along side Netanyahu) no one believes in that mythology anymore. Not only does no one believe it, but that mythology seems absurd, even laughable.

The Trump administration is openly contemptuous of the UN and international law with his war of aggression and continued genocide of Gaza. Trump is contemptuous of the US’s own constitution, sending in his own private police force to occupy US cities and kidnap minorities and political activists. Trump is a convicted felon, and we now know that much of the US political class has been involved in child sex trafficking for years. The Democratic Party helps congress to act as a rubber-stamp approving of Trump’s war of aggression. Student protesters face the kind of government reprisals not seen since the 1950s red scare for criticizing the government of Israel — not for criticizing the government of the USA, but for criticizing the government of a foreign country, that is the kind of speech that is no longer protected free speech in the “land of the free.”

The idea of American freedom, democracy, and prosperity, is a sick joke. Most people around the world believe this now. So the American-led post World War II world order, as we know it, is probably never coming back now. The world we all grew up in is probably gone forever, and a new world order will take it’s place in due time, hopefully before nuclear holocaust or climate change ends humanity entirely.

It was a double-tap strike, it could not have been “unintentional.” They dropped a bomb or missile, watched and waited for first responders to go in and help survivors, then dropped a second bomb to kill the first responders. How do you “accidentally” drop a second bomb on the exact same target after carefully making sure that enough innocent first responders were there to kill with the second bomb?

their neighbors are mostly being armed by the US anyways. So regardless of whether they attack a US carrier directly, or attack an air base in Kuwait or Bahrain, either way they are depleting the armaments of their attackers. They can also grind the economies of these US-friendly nations to a halt as everyone takes shelter, further harming the US and their ability to wage war. The goal is a war of attrition: make the US use up 10 missiles and drones for every one missile or drone the Iranians use. Make their neighbors question the logic of cooperating with the US.

This strategy is very obvious, and very effective. There is no doubt in my mind that every single military advisor to Trump told him that this would be Iran’s defense strategy. But try telling Trump or Hegseth that they aren’t the smartest one in the room, you already know what Trump would say: “YOU’RE FIRED!”

There is still always the nuclear option (literally). Although if you watched the interview with Colonel Douglas MacGregor I posted earlier, nuclear strikes might be enough to convince China and Russia to begin open hostilities against the US in the Middle East.

All people of conscience must oppose this war, and demand the war criminals Trump and Netanyahu face justice under international law.
