"America’s greatest game is hurting our children in insidious and incalculable ways, and that addressing the issue might mean fundamentally changing the way we teach a game that has become fundamental to America’s sense of self."

#UK- Bovine spongiform encephalopathy {#BSE, type C} - Immediate notification, #WOAH: https://wahis.woah.org/#/in-review/5667
Isolated, single case of classical bovine spongiform #encephalopathy (BSE) has been confirmed in a 7½- year- old indigenous #cow on a beef suckler #farm. The cow close to calving, had lost condition over the last two weeks and became recumbent and aggressive prior to being found dead.
His brain was sent to a #Veterans Affairs laboratory in Boston that is known for its pioneering work documenting chronic #traumatic #encephalopathy, or #CTE, in athletes.
Acc/to the lab’s report, prepared on Feb 26 & updated on Wednesday, the white matter that forms the wiring deep in the #brain had “moderately severe” damage, & in some areas was missing entirely.

COVID is not something to blow off as benign, can age your brain 20 years!
Post-COVID cognitive deficits
“Persistent cognitive deficits even in those without clinical neurological complications. When compared to norm age-matched data, these deficits were equivalent in magnitude to ageing from 50 to 70 years of age (1). This study indicated cognitive deficits were associated with the severity of the initial infective insult, post-acute mental health status, and a history of #COVID-19 associated #Encephalopathy, with strong concordance between sub and obj deficits”
The spectrum, pathophysiology, and recovery trajectory of persistent post-COVID-19 cognitive deficits are unknown, limiting our ability to develop prevention and treatment strategies. We report the one-year cognitive, serum biomarker, and neuroimaging findings from a prospective, national long...
