Replayed Dragonfall recently and it's the bleakest cyberpunk I've seen. Nothing you care about will survive the epilogue except your found family.

In the story, you live in a funny trade district of anarchist Berlin. It's awesome. You can donate for a homeless shelter, make a trade deal with another district, just do a lot of good for the neighbourhood while messing with the corporations.

Then the Bad Guys come and torch the place while you're out. Some of the familiar faces die, more if you didn't bother with the shelter and everything. Hopefully, they'll rebuild.

Then a dragon comes in and destroys the city anyway. Oh, you stopped that threat? Enjoy your happy ending, but the epilogue is "next year, three corporations merged their forces and got rid of the anarchist city".

There's nothing you can do about the epilogue except doom the whole world instead.
