Some #poetry for this very cold, snowy (where I am) Sunday. Remembering warm, sunny months.

"If you want to change, act", Heinz von Foerster, Austrian Philosopher, Cybernetic and universal genius.

For my life this means: "DO THINGS, differently". It leads to new experiences, habits, and changes the trajectory of your life.
My newest doing things differently: going to events, bars, places etc explicitly alone and seeing what happens. Met a ton of cool people that way.

I've been thinking all day about a TED video I watched yesterday (yeah, I know we're all sick of TED, but this was an animation not a talk) It said that happiness measurements after life-changing moments like injuries or lotto wins eventually regained equilibrium. But it said crucially the happiest people were not those with the best, or most, possessions, but those who invested in lives full of experience. #happiness #doingThings #together #alone

Who should do a #GORUCK event?

GORUCK events are for anyone who wants to learn in a sandbox environment.

In team events, #leadership and #TeamWork are in the forefront of learnings, though also putting yourself in uncomfortable situations and see if the obstacle will break you.

For lots just showing up is a hurdle to overcome, since you are intently putting yourself in an unfamiliar situation.

Then initially you will meet lots of strangers with lots of different personalities and beliefs. These are your team mates for the next x hours. Can they rely on you or are you able to rely on them.

A basic requirement is for each participant to carry their load to their current capacity. This doesn’t just mean to stubbornly carry your load to failure, but also be open for help and let your mate help you out. Because if you cannot continue further then you become an additional burden for the team. Sometimes it is wise to swallow your pride and/or ego to not become a hindrance.

Most people are not born leaders and everyone can benefit from practicing leadership in the field. On the flip side, lots that think that they are good leaders can benefit from being lead. This is an area of learning of knowing when it is the right time to step up your game and when to lay back.

The harmony between being the delegator and delegatee creates the best dynamic to get the team the furthest. And the team is only as strong as its weakest member.

Got the NAS to be seen by Rune Audio FINALLY! The NAS is ancient at this point I guess so we had to revert to using version 1 for Rune Audio to even find it. Success!

That was a little more challenging. #Debian #Bookworm comes with a PHP8.2.5. However, the Nextcloud 26 does not really work with this version. So be warned! There are no older versions available in the standard packages. Had used deb.sury.org for older php. And made a parallel 8.1. installation with all the fpm stuff for the nginx server.
Now all is running fine again 😀

My intentions for today: write two easy things (with FOCUS, so that they happen quickly). Two meetings, back to back (not ideal, but it happens now and then). Then two things I didn't get to yesterday (one work-related, one household). Anxiety is creeping, but I'm trying to keep it at bay. Hoping to lift weights and do a short yoga practice before walking the pups this afternoon. #tasks #work #chores #DoingThings
After being in a huge rush to meet deadlines since last week, today, there's not a ton of stuff on my calendar. I need to do a few short, fast things, and I'm going to a yoga class in the early afternoon. I'm hoping to get a blog post up on my own website, and do a small amount of marketing work. There's also Clean Laundry Mountain to deal with. All in all, it looks like a pretty decent Wednesday ahead. #tasks #productivity #DoingThings
