Organized labor supports data center construction because they provide jobs up front. But they don't create jobs once they're built and communities don't want them in their neighborhood. We talk about this tension with Dr. Rob Stone.

"It would only be a matter of time before a SpaceX orbital data center exploded, spraying debris into neighboring data centers and triggering a chain reaction."

Starlink Satellite Explodes In Orbit, Yet Another Moment Of SpaceX Engineering Excellence

There are roughly 10,000 Starlink satellites in low Earth orbit, over a third of all the tracked objects in that part of space.

whois $(dig +short A pay.weropay.eu | tail -n 1) | grep -i OrgName
Jugada redonda.

"A Meta campus sprawls in DeKalb, Illinois; Apple is expanding its footprint in Waukee, Iowa; Google recently announced plans to build its first Minnesota data center; and Microsoft is investing $3.3 billion into what it’s calling the world’s most powerful AI data center, in Mount Pleasant, Wisconsin. In the former fields and pastures reached by gravel roads, this burgeoning technology is a new bumper crop."

How Big Tech’s New Data Centers Are Reshaping the Midwest

AI is spiking demand for data centers. But big tech companies like Microsoft, Google, and Meta are looking for more than just open land.

Scientists have found an alarming #EnvironmentalImpact of vast #DataCenters

Story by Laura Paddison, March 30, 2026

Excerpt: "They found surface temperatures increased by an average of 3.6 degrees Fahrenheit after a data center started operations. In extreme cases, nearby temperatures increase by up to 16.4 degrees Fahrenheit.

"These increases were consistent across the globe, the researchers found. In #Mexico’s #Bajio region, for example, which has become a data center hub, the study found unexplained temperature rises of around 3.6 degrees over the last 20 years. A similar situation was seen in #AragonSpain, a European center for #hyperscale #AIDataenters, which recorded a temperature increase of 3.6 degrees which was not replicated in neighboring provinces.

"Strikingly, the impacts weren’t limited to a data center’s immediate surroundings; temperature increases affected areas up to 6.2 miles away, the research found, affecting more than 340 million people.

"The findings are particularly alarming, the scientists say, because AI data centers are set to boom over the next few years, and these temperature rises come as planet-warming pollution is already making #HeatWaves more extreme around the world."

Houston: our data center has imploded due to a space anomaly.

"LeoLabs, an American company tracking satellites in Low Earth Orbit, said it detected a “fragment creation event” involving Starlink 34343 on March 29."

The company believes both were likely caused by "an internal energetic source rather than a collision with space debris or another object.”
