@cstross

Every time that you mention that I am reminded of a German #SciFi telly program from the 1990s called #Lexx.

In the second series, a maniac ends up imploding an entire universe by filling it with Von Neumann self-replicators that are single disembodied arms and concentrating them in a single place.

Canada gave us Dark Matter. The U.S.A. gave us Vagrant Queen cancelled just when it was about to get really good, and the godawful Pandora that wasn't cancelled soon enough. Germany gave us The Lexx.

One of the characters is a sex slave who is accidentally combined with predator lizard DNA, and who sleeps with anyone but one bloke; and another is an undead mind-wiped assassin for a mad theocrat. Right up your street, I suspect. (-:

Multiple faces I recognize from shows shot in Canada.

I think this guy is in Dark Matter

Gravitons exist in all sorts of grand unification physics theories. This #CMSPaper looks for them in the photon+missing energy signature, which is also a good signature to check for #darkmatter by the way. It looks in the 2016 through 2018 CMS data, and is a #nullresult arxiv.org/abs/2511.17310
Hypothetical supersymmetry particles linked to Higgs bosons (called Higgsinos) are linked to #darkmatter. This #CMSPaper looks for the low-momentum + missing-energy signature. There is some deviation (2.2 sigma) in this analysis, so we will look at it again with more data! arxiv.org/abs/2511.16394
Are there #Darkmatter particles produced together with #Higgsbosons? This #CMSPaper looks for that signature in the LHC data collected in 2017 and 2018. It is a #NullResult arxiv.org/abs/2601.11330

"These rich datasets revealed that FCC 224 shares many properties with DF2 and DF4 beyond the lack of dark matter. These shared traits also produced something like a recipe for finding more galaxies without dark matter."

Galaxies without dark matter mystify astronomers

Bizarre objects that seem to lack all dark matter present a cosmic mystery

An Einstein Cross Reveals the Universe's Hidden Matter

When astronomers pointed their telescopes at a distant galaxy called HerS-3, they discovered something really quite remarkable. The galaxy, located 11.6 billion light years away, appeared not once but five times in their observations, arranged in a nearly perfect cross pattern. This rare phenomenon, known as an Einstein Cross, has revealed exciting evidence for a massive halo of dark matter lurking in the space between us and that distant galaxy.
