i built my first ever lego set recently. a star wars ship. i've been a big star wars ship nerd my entire life and a friend of mine offered me a lego set two years ago that i never got the opportunity to build because of space. now that i have a bit more space, i finally decided to build it. it was the first time i ever did this. and i absolutely loved doing it.
i loved it so much that i immediately craved more of it. i want more. i want to build more lego star wars ships...
i was really excited and now, i'm going to be honest, even if it may sound really silly: i'm really depressed. what seemed like a really exciting thing and new hobby to get into is just absolutely unaccessible for me. and the reason is quite simple: it's too damn expensive.
looking it up online, it's apparently been an ever growing complain which seems to have reached an apex in 2025. the prices of these lego sets are absolutely outrageous and you're lucky if you can get anything good below 50โฌ. i don't have near that kind of money to spend on this.
lego used to be toys but now it feels like they're mostly aimed at collectionners. it's become a luxuary brand, seemingly. i am completely outpriced by this company and i'm really sad about this. i was really excited to have found something cool that i could build my paws. but i just can't do this. even the sets that i could technically afford or squeeze into my budgets... i don't want, they're just too expensive for me to be happy with my purchase.
i'm sad.
