Two insights from today's #ThursdayFiveList - #DadDitties :
1. Some of y'all dads listen to the same music I do. That is... disconcerting.
2. My dad is not cool enough for me to be able to post his favourite songs

4. Sarah Vaughan β No Count Blues
Both my parents loved Sarah Vaughan. HOWEVER, my dad couldn't carry a tune if it had a handle on it. He took my mom to a Sarah Vaughan concert and thought it was okay to sing along!
She squashed that right quick and they stayed married, thank goodness!

3. Lipps, Inc. - Funkytown
One of the funniest things ever was my Dad getting really engrossed in Funkytown on the radio driving down the highway and beeping the horn along to it!

2. Inti Illimani β La Mariposa
My house was full of Andean folk music growing up. My dad taught engineering at Universidad Tecnica del Estado in Antofagasta, Chile and brought home a love of the music. This was a mainstay in our house.

Cheers to @neurothing on paternity leave, including from #ThursdayFiveList
@Resister provided the theme instead: #DadDitties songs reminding you of or about dads.
1. Sandokan Theme Song
The Italian tv series based on the novel by Salgari. We lived in Sicily at the time. My Dad was always humming the theme song.
It's ... um problematic ... but in the end, you were supposed to cheer for a Malaysian freedom fighter (played by an Indian actor) kicking colonizer butt.
This week's #ThursdayFiveList hosted by @Resister (who is filling in for @neurothing) is #DadDitties (songs that your dad might have listened to on repeat play).
