“Enchanted Theban Evening”

Recreation of a stool from the tomb of Tutankhamun, 18th Dynasty (c 1332 BCE)

Stool designs like this were relatively common in the New Kingdom, with variations found from Egypt’s 18th to 20th dynasties. After the discovery of Tutankhamun’s tomb many replicas were made for the retail market, their design altered to accommodate modern tooling and the demands of mass production. This version is as close to the original as possible, as it would have been seen and used in Thebes nearly three and a half thousand years ago.
