A quotation from Bill Watterson

CALVIN: As you can see, I have memorized this utterly useless piece of information long enough to pass a test question. I now intend to forget it forever. You’ve taught me nothing except how to cynically manipulate the system. Congratulations.

Bill Watterson (b. 1958) American cartoonist
Calvin and Hobbes (1994-01-27)

Differences that make a difference

Words can blind us - or they can make us see. Most of the time, we are not fully aware that the words we use are loaded with meaning: It makes a hell of a difference whether we are talking about teaching or learning.

„But the fact that Huang’s whole business model at Nvidia is still responsive to #Cramming nearly 50 years later, clinches the article’s status as the most influential essay of the 20th century. Lionel Trilling, sure, wrote “Authenticity and the Modern Unconscious” around the time of “Cramming,” and Wendell Berry’s “The Long-Legged House” is lovely. https://www.wired.com/story/moores-law-really-dead/

By the way, this hack is not working since yesterday. I have been able to test a Google Chrome extension that should be working for tweetdeck.twitter.com but which doesn't work either. This was another example of why relying on client side validation is never a good point. And this happened in 2017. And in Twitter. #privacy #socialmedia #cramming #birdsite #hacking
