@FrauKnurrkater Mir ging es so als ich vor ein paar Jahren #CurseOfStradh mit den #dnd5e / #Corpodnd Regeln geleitet habe. Ich hab damals schon v.a. #OSR Systeme bespielt, aber wollte #CoS zuende bringen. Die Kombi aus hochstufiger 5e Personage und dem Modul fing brutal an zu knirschen. Die Spielenden hatten Spaß, aber mir kam das irgendwann nur noch wie ein Superheld*innen Halloween 🎃 - Special vor. Alle flogen herum, fackelten in langen Kämpfen ein Feuerwerk an „Feats“ ab….boring 1/2

@artemis IMO #dungeonworld falls apart whenever you try to use it as a game engine for adventures prepared in a traditional way. The game only shines when you and your players embrace improvising and collaborating on fleshing out the setting and particular moves. If you simply want to find a heroic Fantasy alternative for #corpodnd / #dnd5e which is not bogged down by rules and prep load for the dm, look elsewhere. 2/2

@juergen_hubert @Kenan @satchel I would even argue, that in the German language area #dnd5e / #corpodnd led to a diversification of „the“ #ttrpg scene:
a) New and especially younger (!) players entered the hobby via 5e.
b) New 5e players seem to be more open to other games as compared to veteran players stuck in what I refer to as the „potato 🇩🇪 triangle“: #DasSchwarzeAuge (genre: trad clunk 😜) + #CoC + #Shadowrun, three games that used to dominate

@tintenteufel @thopan i remember running #CurseOfStradh with #dnd5e / #corpodnd a few years ago and it was super fun until hp bloat kicked in and every PC was loaded with spells and feats and everybody was flying around slinging spells. Started to feel like super heroes dressed up for a Halloween party. Nothing bad about that (!) but old school dnd / #Shadowdark make it so much easier to convey #Ravenloft stuff (which IMO is not gothic horror, but a genre in itself)

@slyflourish fortunately, #dnd is bigger than its current rules iteration and Hasbro‘s lifestyle brand and wanna be digital enclosure: dnd is ours. We can rip it apart, reassemble dnd‘s building blocks, throw money to independent and 3rd party creators instead of buying more #corpodnd products 🙂 I personally like to reclaim the name of the dragon game, when referring to dragongames in general: So let’s play dnd, today, maybe the cool #Shadowdark, #FTD, #WwN, #OSE etc variant?

Bewegt sich da noch was. #dnd5e / #corpodnd hat ja schon - das sei als historische Leistung gewürdigt - eine Bresche in die aventurische Schildmauer geschlagen und die Spieler*innenschaft deutlich verjüngt 🙏 . #5e sozialisierte Spieler*innen scheinen in the Long run eher geneigt, mal andere Sachen ausprobieren zu wollen, die außerhalb des klassischen Kartoffeldreiecks (#CoC + #Shadowrun + #DSA) zu verorten sind (?), weil dnd worldbuilding/homebrewing incentiviert vlt (?)
