The explosion of cookie consent popups started in 2018 and is partly the fault of #GDPR. The change was meant to make it easier for people to understand and control how they are tracked online. In reality, it has made the internet even more unusable.

I started closing most of the websites that greet me with #CookieBanners or #CookiePopups immediately. I'd rather not even spend a second on them, even if it means I have to get info from somewhere else..
The latest version of the #Ghostery plugin for #Firefox can now automatically dismiss most #CookiePopups. Yay!
