"The conservation and restoration of negative heritage", an article that Ruth Taberner and I have published, about the problem of preserving (or not) the most contested heritage (in Spanish). #OpenAccess #GeConservación #Article

It is often asked to what extent it makes sense to restore a legacy that is extremely negative and harmful to a significant part of society and that has no other significant values that would provide an incentive for its restoration. In some cases many pieces have been destroyed as Nazi and communist sculptures. In Spain a project was presented to melt down the equestrian sculpture of Franco that was originally in the Plaza de España in Ferrol (La Coruña).

Vista de La conservación y restauración del patrimonio negativo

Totally missed the #European Day of #ConservationRestoration yesterday on account of it being a Sunday and me trying to have better work-life balance.

Happy belated #EuropeanDayConservationRestoration, folks! 🇪🇺

An interesting perspective on habitat restoration for a species of tree that is both endemic and invasive, smells great, and has destroyed so many saw chains: the Western Juniper.

The Juniper Paradox

"Are juniper trees native or invasive?"

It is always a pleasure to have a minute to stop by the #conservationrestoration workshop of our colleague Fréderic Lebas and check on what object from our collection is he currently working on. Given its size, he is always busy with something. Objects that enter our collection in need of some restoration or those which have to be refitted to come to display. This days, Mr Lebas is taking care of the yard model of the #SAR cruiser Berlin (1985) of the #DGzRS .

Are you even a #conservator if you haven't scraped old animal glue off a ceramic for an hour this week? (Just kidding. You are.)

Here's my workbench wonder for the week: a #ceramic #bull back to his old self.

Happy weekend, folks!

The C Word

Mothers day isn't really my thing but I thought I'd share this #ceramic #cat I finished up this week so someone could return it to their mum without a chipped ear: a delightful little project which had some tearful Repair Shop moments to it!

So #conservation can be a giftable thing. Tell your friends!
