Drying large flat pieces will crack; sections beyond the small board underneath will fall because... GRAVITY. Even if the greenware seems dry and pretty sturdy, it's really NOT dry enough.

Tip of the week for drying your work: whenever you doubt if the clay is dry enough to bisque fire without a change of exploding, weigh it! Daily, at the same time.

Water evaporates out of the clay, so it loses weight each day. When the weight differs only a few grams it's good to go into the kiln.
