Last week the Trump administration stopped the construction of Empire Wind, which was set to provide 500,000 New York homes with clean, reliable offshore wind energy.

So I don’t know what these people are thinking, although I wholeheartedly support wind energy.

White xtian nationalists love the Constitution the same way that they love the Bible: as a convenient old-timey document to unscrupulously comb through for evidence to support whatever they've been told to believe (which is supposedly derived from said document, but really comes from a handful of 20th-century evangelical leaders like James Dobson and Phyllis Schlafly).

Not sure when I'll have an opportunity to listen through, but I usually find her quite insightful. For example, she pushed back in a public hearing against a Lord with regards to parsing the ICJ, to be later backed up by the president of the ICJ court who wrote that decision.

She has a bias, obviously, but has the positive attribute of making a coherent argument.

I cannot figure out whether they're suffering from #CognitiveDissonace or have just adopted this harsh rhetorical technique of, as you pointed out, a false dichotomy.

Perhaps #warispeace is a litmus test, because while they claim to advocate peace what they're actually arguing for is a continuous war. Maybe they have no grasp of how #geopolitcs work, but a child can identify #crybully tactics.

It's a mystery.

@b_rain @digitalcourage unseren Kindern haben wir das vor Jahren auch gegeben, aber die haben trotzdem weiterhin Instagram, Twitter, TikTok, BeReal, .... Immerhin kein WhatsApp, sondern Signal, aber #Mastodon wollen sie nicht. Twitter bleibt erstmal, obwohl andererseits zumindest die Mädchen kein gutes Haar an Musk lassen.

Du ließt diese Nachricht von Wissenschaftler A (weit weg): Artensterben schreitet gegenwärtig 100x so schnell voran wie im Mittel der letzten Milliarden Jahre. Die Zivilisation wie wir sie kennen wird in den nächsten Jahrzenten aufhören zu existieren. Schuld daran ist der menschengemachte Klimawandel und der Kapitalismus.
Gleichzeitig Wissenschaftler B und C (deine Kolleg*innen): Wir müssen diese Vorlesung X fertig kriegen, für das klimapolitisch völlig irrelevante Thema Y, wir warten auf deinen Input, wann ist case study Z endlich fertig?!

Und du sitzt da und wunderst dich warum du irgendwie ne Arbeitsblockade hast...
