This topic maybe useful for some comrades from US and EU. It maybe interesting for them to know how Russian authorities, being capitalists and fascists portray USSR inside Russia.
Russia is a right wing imperialistic (also in a classic Marxist sense) fascist tyranny. Putin and his team of propagandists really like to project into the west an image of a right-wing conservative capitalist country in its prime. Such image is created on foreign languages and most of the time it rarely returns to Russia itself. But inside Russia Putin’s regime really likes to say that modern Russia is USSR. You may think that it is insane, ridiculous – that people has seen with their very eyes in 1990-s the fall of Soviet Union. That a basic knowledge of Marxism-Leninism or just common sense will be enough to say that Russia is a capitalist country.
In reality fascists always try to make a false image of socialist, leftist, etc. of themselves. Most known and famous example is national-socialistic party of Germany. What socialistic in its holocaust, share speculations, which continued even till 1945 and private property of factories by most rich capitalists? Use populism - Make a false image, use good reputation of your enemy and lie all the time, hide the fact that your interests are opposite to the interests of the masses.
Putininsts are doing the same very thing. Inside Russia Putin won’t even dare to call himself a right-wing politician. Of course, some neo-nazi in the west won’t call themselves a neo-nazi, but in Russia even plain political spectrum is forbidden.
Inside Russia class is such a forbidden topic, that you won’t hear it even when they talk about history of revolution, civil war, etc. Putin is even afraid to speak about removing mausoleum of Lenin from Red square.
How are they doing it? – They adopted a renegade ideology from Stalin’s times, that he used to make NKVD hunt down other revolutionaries, that maybe broadly translated into English as “statism”. They completely abandon both class and economy and talk only about state, like entire universe is only moving around Russian state. It is absolutely nothing of interest, but they use it to abandon any discussions about class inside Russia. Other one – Russia has «inherited» USSR or some rights from USSR. You may immediately see how stupid it is to say, that Marxism as political ideology may be inherited through a birth right.
Why are they doing it? – Most of the Russian population feel positive towards USSR, while not knowing anything about Marxism and revolutionary theory at all. It is especially true for those, who was born in USSR. That is why – people are ignorant enough to agree that modern capitalistic Russia is USSR, continue the work of USSR, etc.
Putinists and their propagandists are using this ignorance to the max. They are saying –we will recreate USSR! Will they seize mean of production from capitalists and Putin oligarchs? (that is the main idea of October Revolution actually) – sure not, they will just wage imperialistic wars with all post-soviet countries – to grab all the factories and natural resources from them and give them to the relatives of Putin’s friends as private property.
What useful thing you may take from it for yourself? – Russian modern authorities is insanely class reductionist inside Russia. They are afraid to say the word “class” just like it will magically summon Lenin, Trotsky and Red army in an instant. They are doing it because class antagonism in Russia is very high, they are doing it, because they know, that ignorance of the masses and non-stop death cult propaganda making population believe in this false idea, that they and the masses have the same goal. They always use word “We” or “our” in mass media, when they refer to such topics as profits of oligarchs, and its companies, for example Gazprom. Like for some reason the fact that Miller – CEO of Gazprom got 20% profits concern in any way a medium Russian.
Quite funny that inner stability of Russia is in fact so fragile that regime has to completely abandon even slightest notices about classes and class struggle, always use “we” or “our”, when talking about oligarchs, like it is a magical mantra, that will scare away antagonism between capitalists and working people.
