While we all lie bleeding & broken from the massive rug-pull of the last 10 years... #AI companies have swooped in & offered to comfort us with smallpox blankets. Murdering human creativity, value of labour & independent thought with the tempting promise of ease, convenience & labour savings.

The trauma of this last decade & who knows how much longer, is going to be deep & lasting - and the countries of the world & individual citizens will be more divided than ever.

“While mindful of what he called the ‘existential challenge of climate change,’ Carney said abundance and affordability (of oil & gas) are also top of mind for his and other governments as the conflict in Iran dramatically drives up fuel prices and takes some supply, including a significant portion of Qatar's gas, offline.

He branded those issues a ‘three-dimensional energy crisis.’"

I get that as a prime minister he’s got to factor in what’s best for Canada’s economy right now, but as a prime minister he owes it to future generations of Canadians to preserve the environment and climate we have now as well.

"’In a rapidly changing world, Canada must become the source of our own affordable, clean, reliable power because when we master energy, we master our destiny,’ Carney said.”

Memories of when asbestos was banned in Canada but we kept exporting it to other countries. Just a bit hypocritical.

Carney says the world is facing an 'energy crisis' and Canada must help solve it | CBC News

In B.C. to meet with the province's premier who is sceptical of another oil pipeline, Prime Minister Mark Carney said the world is in the throes of an "energy crisis" and Canada must do its part to supply it with the natural resources it needs.

“On Tuesday, Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre panned Carney's video, arguing the only talks the prime minister is engaging in regarding Canada's trade war ‘are YouTube videos where he's comparing himself to Sir Isaac Brock and holding up little figures in his office.’"

PP was in a YouTube video stroking wood (not his own) and one where he belittled a newspaper reporter while eating an apple.

Pot meet kettle.

Carney has promised regular trade updates. Why is YouTube his platform of choice? | CBC News

Prime Minister Mark Carney has promised regular updates on his government's efforts as Canada continues to work through a U.S. trade war while also seeking to strengthen relationships with other trading partners — and his medium of choice appears to be YouTube.

CBC

Le sigh. Poilievre is opening his mouth again.

“What has Mark Carney really done in a year on this? He hasn't held negotiations in five months.”

The article points out that “there have been no ‘substantive’ trade talks between the two countries since President Donald Trump erupted last fall over an Ontario ad that featured former president Ronald Reagan pillorying tariffs.”

As Trump is finding out with the Iranians, it’s very hard to hold negotiations if one side doesn’t want to show up. Right now the Americans are negotiating only with the Mexicans.

Carney is probably right that the time is now to disengage on relying on trade with Americans as the prime engine for Canada’s economy.

Meanwhile the BA in international relations life long politician continues to think he knows more than the PhD in economics central banker for two countries who guided Canada through the global economic crisis and the UK through Brexit.

Poilievre says Carney has been 'losing, losing, losing' on U.S. trade war | CBC News

Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre launched a pointed attack on the Liberal government's handling of the Canada-U.S. file Tuesday, saying the results so far have fallen well short of the mark and the prime minister is "losing" the trade war.

CBC

I’ve been thinking about Poilievre saying Mark Carney is ‘pushing fear’ about Canada’s relationship with the US.

I’d rather fear hearing what a globally respected economist says about what the US can do to us than be angry about hearing ’Canada is broken’ from a rage farming liar.

Carney ‘pushing fear’ over Canada-U.S. relations, Poilievre says

In his own video posted to social media Monday, Poilievre argued Carney's address was "strangely timed" and aimed at distracting Canadians.
