There is *nothing* good about about this announcement from Doug Ford's awful conservative government. Conservation Authorities have had an important role in Ontario for 75 years, and this profoundly stupid plan will diminish their effectiveness.

"In sweeping changes to Ontario’s conservation authorities, Premier Doug Ford‘s government is proposing to centralize control under a new provincial agency and streamline development approvals. The plan revealed Friday would also consolidate the existing 36 local authorities — which manage watersheds and handle flood protection — into seven regional ones.”

Big changes in store for Ontario's conservation authorities

A new agency to centralize development approvals would be called the Ontario Provincial Conservation Agency.

Ontario Bill 60 is a vicious omnibus.

It will make it mandatory for a tenant to pay half of any rent arrears to a landlord before being able to raise any maintenance issues at the LTB tribunal. 🤬

It will also basically ban any new bike lanes across the province if they are built on what used to be a lane of car traffic. 🤦🏼‍♂️

The Ford government has tabled an omnibus bill that would make changes to a whole suite of laws and regulations, from green roofs to tenant evictions and driver’s licences.

@elasticsoul @dyckron As the English would say, “even a stopped clock tells the correct time twice a day”. Likewise, even a thug like Doug Ford gets it right at some point, particularly when dealing with an opponent so incredibly stupid he makes Doug look like a Nobel laureate. Of course, to no one’s surprise, Doug’s trying to fundraise off the one decent thing he’s ever done. #onpoli #NeverVoteConservative #FordCrimeFamily

"For half a century, our public education system has been hailed as world-leading. International recognition praised our system for being increasingly adaptive to the needs of tamariki, their whānau and communities, shifting in response like a braided river over our diverse landscape.

We developed a child-centred system focused on a broad education. Māori have led the way in kaupapa Māori education and kōhanga reo, and both our early childhood and primary curriculums have had global influence.

Why now, are we being asked to channel this river, to narrow it in accordance with the values and power systems of other colonial countries?"
