Dreamwidth's Drawesome Community's Drawtober prompts No.26 - Noisy

Wayyyy back in the mid 80's I discovered the Rotring Art Pen, which is now sadly discontinued. It's always been my favourite to draw with. Got to be one of the nicest pens to work with ever for drawing. Murray Ball of Footrot Flats Fame used them too.

Anyways, this is a Bandin - or a White Cheeked Honeyeater, one of the local birdies here in Perth, and I've drawn this noisy little squeaker from a photo that @rdm took by Derbarl Yerrigan. These birds are quite often mistaken for Bandiny, the New Holland Honeyeater, but a quick look at the eyes will establish which you're looking at, Bandin have dark eyes, and Bandiny (Not pronounced Bandinee, more like the 'n' in onion) have white eyes.

These are a striking bird, and quite often they're the ones who'll be the first to alarm call if there's a cat, owl or raptor about with their thin, shrill call that goes right through your head.

This time I did a pencil sketch beforehand, no Drawingwithoutanet this time oooh what a slacker...

Took somewhere between an hour and two hours. I think. You'll have to ask @rdm

A very cold and foggy morning. Caught this fella as it took off from the lake.

Great Crested Grebe At first I wasn't sure what I was looking at. Still very much one eyed while waiting for my 2nd cataract surgery. Have to say if there are "Punks" in the bird world then this fella would be among them.

Sacred Kingfisher (Todiramphus sanctus) Loc: Yass NSW
The sacred kingfisher (Todiramphus sanctus) is a medium-sized woodland kingfisher that occurs in mangroves, woodlands, forests and river valleys in Australia, New Zealand and other parts of the western Pacific. #dustytravelsoz #WildAustralia #birdsofaus #kingfisher
Angel wing is a cosmetic deformity that affects the wings of geese and other aquatic birds. It occurs when the last joint of the wing twists, causing the wing feathers to point away from the body instead of lying flat against it.
This can be due to an unhealthy diet, such as feeding geese bread or crackers, which can cause nutritional deficiencies.
