Don't get me wrong: films should be precisely as long as they need to be, but I often get the impression that directors are being over-indulged and that the discipline of keeping films short is being lost a little bit to the commercial needs of streaming services -- to keep subscribers' eyeballs on their platforms for longer.
It's also, of course, the reason so many more resources are put into serialised TV nowadays. Hmm.
