If they can opt out of MAID for idealogical reasons, they can similarly refuse to provide access to reproductive healthcare or trans healthcare. In Alberta, they’ve taken this a step further and are trying to turn public hospitals over to faith-based group like Covenant Health, making them the defacto health authority.

END RELIGIOUS EXCEPTIONS IN BC HEALTHCARE

Every year, over a billion dollars of your tax dollars goes to healthcare facilities run by religious organizations. These hospitals are allowed to refuse legal, essential medical services including medical assistance in dying, abortion and contraceptives based on their management's religious dogma.
In 2026, terminally ill patients are still being forced out of their hospital beds just to access their legal right to a peaceful death. This is a violation of patient dignity and human rights.
Public funding should come with a public obligation. No British Columbian should be denied care or forced to undergo a dehumanizing transfer because the hospital bed they are in is governed by a church instead of the provincial health authority.
It is time to put patients before pews. Sign this petition to demand a truly secular, provincial healthcare system.
Update: we got mom to hospital last night. In speaking with her doctor we felt it was the best way to get her the tests she needs in a timely fashion; he’s concerned that her breast cancer could have metastasized to her spine and that could be why her back is all messed up. And the best way to get a CT scan (and the other tests she needs) quickly is at the hospital. And since we had no way to get her safely downstairs we had to call an ambulance so they could safely bring her down and transport her to the hospital.
It’s fucked because it seems like such a waste of valuable resources (hospital bed, EHS) when those things are in such short supply, but there really was no other option.

A Langley, B.C., care facility that blends village life with dementia support is now the focus of a national study examining whether an outdoor, community-style approach can improve quality of life for people with dementia. Researchers hope evidence from the project will inform future policy and make models like this more accessible and affordable.

Paying for healthcare is the stupidest thing ever.
My poor old moms has been laid up with a crook back for weeks now and is desperate for relief. Her doc put her on a wait list for an MRI which might not be until April next year.
Meanwhile, she has the ‘option’ of shelling out $1300 bucks and getting it done this week.
How is this not criminal extortion?

I miss Dad very much 😢 ❤️ He's been gone for over 2 years now.
I remember this day well. It was an excellent family bonding day. We had a nice dinner after a short walk together. 3 months after this photo was taken, Dad had to go to ER for a leg muscles issue. He was infected with covid by unmasked hospital staff. It happened shortly after our eugenics government removed public masking mandates. Dad ended up dying from covid related cardiac arrest, the following Summer.
I have never forgiven the #BCgovernment or #unmasked #hospital staff for killing my Dad. We had him fully protected with home #caregiving for years. It took less than 2 days in hospital for him to get #covid.
Please #WearAMask. Please don't let my Dad & others who died from getting covid from unmasked people, to be forgotten. It could be you or your family members, next. Covid doesn't care if you believe in it or not - it will end up wrecking your life, one way or another.
