Shipped in the dead of night: a page about what's left of a web document when you strip away everything around it.

So I have added breadcrumbs to the the graph. This was a little sidequest this morning for the docs.
The past two weeks were what you'd call a design sprint: just writing, sketching, mapping the seo graph for the plugin. It landed yesterday in the `core-work` branch.
Both breadcrumbs and seo are going to simmer in the branch until the next rolling release.

Wrote a long-form about-page for (Eleventy) Baseline.
It came out of trying to work out who this project is for and what to actually say. The audience question keeps resurfacing in discussions.
The docs cover what Baseline is and how to use it, but they’re not shaped for the “why” story.
So I tried writing something a bit different.

Outside: grey skies, soft rain on the window. David stares out.
The tea is still warm and the toast remains emotionally available. His inbox pings.
“Looks great 👍 Can we also get keyword clustering by Friday?”
Great job, David.

I'm not making this up!

Are you starting an Eleventy project and already stuck?
Or moving templates around for the Nth time?
Or trying to figure out where your data is coming from?
If the answer is yes, try Eleventy Baseline.
Eleventy Baseline provides the project plumbing sites need from day one.
It gives you a working starting point without giving up control of your project.
Install from NPM and visit the documentation website:
Speaking of which:
I made the executive decision to work on `baseline` today. Still no package release but getting closer, I promise!
Today was some codebase work, local repo is clean and pushed. I'll let my mood decide tonight what the next open loop is.

Found a gap in the afternoon, and am continuing now with baseline work. Somewhat unusual for me but decided to branch out for a focused `assets-*` refactor.
Also after some internal debate I decided to take a much more opinionated stance on site config. The reasons are:
- the plugin is mainly supporting my workflow atm.
- it is more in line with the educational side of the project.
- supporting "esoteric" configs is a headache I can do without.

Pfiou, what a week. Greatt closing. Went to a Claude community event. That was three hours ago. And since then, with some ambient music in the headphones, the mood just set in to do a bit of no-pressure baseline work.
I'll have to be mindful of the time this time. Can someone please remind me of it in an hour? 😄
Hi, I'm Cris. I run a small digital studio in Amsterdam called `a pleasant view`.
I care about craft, clarity, and keeping things simple. I maintain an open source Eleventy plugin: Eleventy Baseline.
Outside of work: music, film photography, chess, family and my cat. My humour is wry, deadpan, and self-aware. I mostly mean well.
I post about web dev, tech, small biz, life. Mostly in English, sometimes Dutch and French.
