I was just at the doc’s office for a checkup, and there was a cute couple probably late 60s early 70s, chatting away merrily. For some reason the subject of Trump’s War came up, and the lady said “That rat-bastard can’t die soon enough”.
I was smiling inwardly, thinking “Maybe there’s hope for the older generation after all.”

Did you ever have one of these in your home?
Today's kids simply don't understand The Struggle.

I remember memorizing all my friends' phone numbers, and when I tried to call a girl, I had to speak to their Dad first because he always answered the phone.

HIVE MIND: 🐝 🍯
This summer I'm planning to move as far off the grid as is feasible right now, so I'm thinking of getting one of those "Am I Dead?" apps. I know there's the Japanese one called that, but there must be others.
Any recommendations?
(And yes, it occurred to me that if the app truly works as intended, no one could Reply here, but still....)

People of a certain age get it when I say "I'm sick, man, like Bartles and Jaymes next day sick."

There is a part of me that is Walter Matthau-slash-Jack Lemmon in "Grumpy Old Men" that has decided that most human beings are little more than smelly, greasy bacteria vectors with whom I want no interaction.
Present company excepted, of course.
Thanks for listening to my Ted Talk.

You guys.
I just got off a telehealth call with my urologist, and the prostate biopsies he took out of my butt a couple weeks ago came back negative. I'm so relieved right now, and full of hope and prayers for anyone facing serious illness.
Sending out love and compassion vibes. Wishing all my wonderful Followers a fulfilling and amazing new year.

I just realized that I've seen Dwight Yoakam live in each of the last five decades, and I'm not the least bit upset by that.
He's really good live.

Some pop star I never heard of on NPR just said "I loved the Twilight movies AS A KID", and I'm all like, I have a box of Q-Tips older than you.
I'll give you a quarter to mow my lawn, though.

It has come to this.
With six different healthcare providers and two different labs, I have had to create an Excel spreadsheet just to keep track of my doctor's appointments and the lab test appointments for the doctor's appointments.
Random Post-It notes and reminder cards on the fridge are not cutting it anymore.
Getting old is a full-time job, my friends.

ENG: The Benefits of Daily Cannabis for the Middle-Aged Brain. Chronic low-dose oral or inhaled cannabis may improve working memory. By Gary Wenk Ph D. Published June 29, 2025 in PSYCHOLOGY TODAY
