I confess, as much as I love b&w photography I shy away from it because I find it intimidating. I know it’s a matter of practice and developing my eye but for someone whose entire style is color, it feels like I’m pulling the rug out from beneath myself.

The phrase "a friend of Dorthy" started around WWII and was used to help queer identifying folks identify each other without outing themselves in straight spaces. You would think that after decades of struggle such a need wouldn't exist anymore. Yet here we are, watching trans lives be belittled, brutalized, and erased. Consider what your answer would be if you were asked "are you a friend of Dorthy?"
