> " [T]hey're going to sell AI-based "personalized pricing" to "partners." [...] Personalized pricing, of course, is the polite euphemism for surveillance pricing, which is when a company spies on you in order to figure out how much they can get away with charging you."
Spot-on, as usual, from @pluralistic - as well as scary, as usual, from #google.

This is essentially a “do you offer tolerance to the intolerant” problem described here:

Opposing walled gardens to the greatest extent likely calls for fighting fire w/fire. It’s not hypocritical if you see it as a social contract rather than a moral standard. This is much bigger than simply an anti-walled-garden move. They want to bring #adSurveillance to the fedi. Not good. I would sooner give up connecting to ad surveillance pawns.
@[email protected] @[email protected] I think this idea is analogoous to what @[email protected] says¹ about tolerating the intolerant. This might be another case where a #socialContract is being mistaken for a #moralStandard. ① https://freeradical.zone/@[email protected]/110357410508810531
I want to share this for any normies (sorry, for lack of less condescending term) who may see it!
