Why the frell am I struggling to sleep for 8 hours when I clearly need that much sleep minimum?

I wake up, try to continue sleeping as I still feel the pull of sleep. I try for a while, get bored or frustrated & look at my phone to check the time.
Verdict: I need more sleep. I notice notifications, check them & even with near maximum screen dimming it's too bright.

Attempt no.2 at getting back to sleep …
Maybe 20-30 minutes later & it's obvious that despite my need for sleep it is now longer an option.

… but my bed is so comfy …

Now I need breakfast.

Thanks for being somewhere to scroll in safety (even if I have to try & sidestep some of the political nightmare posts that my filters don't get, it's affecting so many things I'd have to filter most of the dictionary,) until I'm compos mentis enough to start my day.
