Good news for travellers who rely on medical-related accommodations when flying. Air Canada, Air Transat, Jazz, and WestJet have agreed to use the same medical assessment form beginning December 3, 2025. AEBC was part of the discussions that moved this forward. A Step Forward in Accessible Air Travel – New Standardized Form Launching in 2025

We are very pleased to announce some good news on the air travel front—something we have been pushing for, and something AEBC raised directly at the 2024 Air Accessibility Summit.Canada’s four major airlines—Air Canada, Air Transat, Jazz, and WestJet—have agreed to use a single, standardized medical form for travellers who have complex health or accessibility-related needs. This replaces the current system, where each airline uses its own form, forcing passengers and health care providers to rep

I’ve traveled across the country and had a hard time finding affordable, decent hotels that actually understand what wheelchair accessible means. We’ve stayed at Holiday Inn Express for over 20 years, but lately, accessibility seems hit or miss. Some newer ones have two beds and better layouts, but many lack roll-in or even walk-in showers, grab bars by the toilet, or a shower chair. Twice I’ve been booked into “communication accessible” rooms instead—great for those who are hearing-impaired, but not wheelchair users.

Another issue: those pedestal beds. They’re far too high for my 92-year-old dad and even a stretch for me at 5’2”.

So I’m wondering—what nationwide hotel chain actually offers lower beds, grab bars by the toilet, a walk-in or roll-in shower with a bench, and two queen beds? Some only have king beds in their accessible rooms and suggest booking two rooms—no thanks.

What’s not to like about cruising!?

By Diana Brent I have been fortunate enough to have experienced both ocean and riverboat cruises, and I have never been disappointed. I have enjoyed sailing with Holland America, Celebrity, Norwegian, and Viking. River boats are much smaller than ocean-going vessels and as a consequence, are less crowded. The atmosphere is sedate—you can’t really tell that you’re moving as you glide through the peaceful water. You are often so close to the land you can see and hear people going about their daily
