If one of the #FreeBSD ports committers could look into the small #ZeroFS update patch at https://bugs.freebsd.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=291242 that would be very much appreciated.

Then the upgrade could be included in the next quarterly package builds... :)

291242 – filesystems/zerofs - Upgrade to v0.22.7

Please note that during the PoC we found out that #ZeroFS does not work on #Garage at the moment, so we suggest you are using e.g. #minio as described in the second part of the series.

You can now run an #NFS file server backed by scalable and redundant #S3 object storage, only using #FreeBSD.

I don't know if anybody noticed #ZeroFS yet, but it seems there is a completely user space-implementation of #NFS and #blockstorage on top of #S3 #objectstorage: https://github.com/Barre/zerofs

Including a demo running #ZFS on top of it which essentially allows geo-redundant ZFS volumes: https://asciinema.org/a/728234 & https://github.com/Barre/zerofs?tab=readme-ov-file#geo-distributed-storage-with-zfs

I don't see no #FreeBSD port yet, but if that really works it would be absolutely awesome.
