Anyone know if there is any progress on #zVault?

Would like to see the bhyve updating and perhaps closer to the non-TrueNAS'ed bhyve.

@curtosis @mazhe just an update. I transitioned to #XIGMANAS since #zVault still has not had an update in 6 months. I may go back to it later but Xigmanas is up to #FreeBSD 14.3 so it is further along. Still learning, but I am using @BastilleBSD for my @jellyfin jail configuration & management. Things could be easier but they are at least working. πŸ˜πŸ‘πŸΎ

Over the next month going to decide whether I will "upgrade" my TrueNAS to https://zvault.io, vanilla FreeBSD with undetermined VM and jail managers.

The hypervisor really just runs zelta to push backups out.

Somewhat depends on what replaces the bhyve manager and iocage on stock FreeBSD, so if you have suggestions. Also maybe the "system health" reporting and other things like scheduled scrubs.

@curtosis @mazhe Thanks for the suggestion everyone. Upgraded & now running #ZVault just fine. If updates don't happen, I can always move to #Xigmanas later since there is a preview of 14.1 available. #RunBSD #BSDSuggestions #BSDHelp #BSDAdvice

Just migrated a #truenas (core) setup to #zvault, quite fast and no issue. Quite happy to see a community fork happening, and hopeful for its future.

That was quick and easy. Thanks to the zvault developers.

So is anybody using #zvault instead of #truenas?
I want to redo my NAS-Setup soon & was wandering if there is a truenas successor or if I have to look at #xigmanas instead?

I require my NAS to be BSD-Based and I'm not sure if I have the time to just role plain freebsd and get the health monitoring and all right withing a sensable amount of time.

More important to have a stable thing running then the most minimal thing I can build.
