Why am I so sure? I bought another #X270 #ThinkPad and installed the keyboard: Mainboard also destroyed.
(On both, only the TrackPad controller is irreversibly gone, not the whole Mainboard.)
But is the initial Magic Eraser necessary, you ask? Fortunately, I ordered another #ThinkPad #X270 to figure this out 😇

Asking ChatGPT and Gemini. The electrical layout or protocol of the #ThinkPad TrackPad between #X270 and #X260 changed. Plugging a X270 keyboard (with TrackPad connected) into a X260 may have permanently damaged my X260 TrackPad mainboard part.
