I remember when typing in word for windows, when office came on floppy disks, that there was never, and I emphasise the word ‘never’, any delay between key press and the screen.

I was using a pentium 90 with 16 megs ram, and a 540 mb drive.

I am now running a supercomputer with a zillion teragloinks and an ssd, and the delays run up to 10 seconds on occasion.
