As a math teacher, I type out a lot of my math tests/quizzes directly. I do know LaTeX, but am forced to use Microsoft Word for one of my side gigs. As I use linux on many (but not all) of my devices, I prefer LibreOffice for cross-platform compatibility.
A few things do annoy me about LibreOffice though, compared to Word:
1. The shortcut for the equation editor isn't as convenient. Alt+= is much easier than Alt+Shift+E.
2. Word allows you to use \degree for a degree symbol directly. LibreOffice has me inserting a specific symbol via unicode or using ^o, which just feels wrong.
3. Numbering questions between sections is clunky. I always have to right-click and "add to list" to continue numbering of problems. This becomes impossible if I've used any header styles between numbered items.
But again, these are just annoyances. I'm still able to use LibreOffice effectively for typesetting math documents. Overall, it is surprisingly good once you get used to it.
