I'm going for the #WoodMeadow, a traditional, low-intensity, high-biodiversity land use. 60% tree cover, 40% herb layer. Combine with recommoning land for local communities, with direct democracy & providing #sustainable livelihoods.

A few big old oak #trees not far from home in their winter clothes in the fog.

All four of these have at least a 7-metre girth. Even the 1st tree (one of the oldest in the forest) still has a full canopy of leaves. It is about 10 metres around its belly.

This is a throwback to a couple of winters ago at a local spot.

A dead oak tree glows as the sun drops below the horizon. It is at one of the places I used to visit to exercise during the pandemic inside the grounds of a stately home.

Dead trees are fantastic habitats and, unless they are a risk to people or property, they should be left to decompose naturally.
