The clashes between protesters and security forces in southern Albania brought to the fore the controversy over the luxury tourism project linked to Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner, while the injury of a Greek citizen prompted the intervention of the Greek Foreign Ministry.

A major tourism investment linked to the business interests of Donald Trump's daughter, Ivanka, and his son-in-law, Jared Kushner, has sparked a stir in southern Albania that has led to serious incidents.

The clashes erupted during protests by residents and environmental groups in the Zvernets area, near Vlora, where residents, members of the Greek ethnic minority and activists attempted to block work related to the development of a luxury tourist complex in one of the most environmentally sensitive areas of the Albanian coastline.

The chronicle of the incidents
Tensions peaked when demonstrators gathered near the construction site of the investment, protesting the start of work in the coastal zone of Zvernec. According to local reports, clashes followed with private security companies that had taken on the protection of the site, while the Albanian police also intervened.
